Does PUMA Have Vegan Shoes?

No. PUMA does not have fully vegan shoes as of 2019, for they use glues of animal origin. Though PUMA does make synthetic shoes using faux leather (which we’ll feature for those who are willing to overlook the glue issue).

Where to Buy PUMA Synthetic Shoes

The synthetic Roma and Tazon collections for men and women are available at Zappos.

Top PUMA Synthetic Shoe Picks

Below is a featured list of our favorite PUMA synthetic sneakers you can purchase. The Roma and Tazon models are for both men and women. The Smash Classic only has a synthetic version for men. Unfortunately the famous PUMA Classics have no current synthetic model. Therefore they did not make our list.

PUMA Company Background

PUMA is a multi-national German company owned by the luxury group Kering. The company has existed for over 70 years and is historically known for offering athletic footwear and being part of streetwear sneaker culture.

In terms of shoe collections, PUMA’s most popular lines include the iconic PUMA Classics, the PUMA Roma, and PUMA Tazon.

Materials and Sustainability

Like many of the other major shoe brands, PUMA has started to move away from exclusively using leather. Instead opting for more more sustainable synthetic materials. In 2012, PUMA introduced a re-suede shoe of their PUMA Classics. And in subsequent years – many of PUMA’s major shoe collections have at least one model that is made of synthetic leather.

Despite the progressive trend and use of synthetic materials, PUMA still uses leather and down feathers for many of their shoes and clothing. The use of leather will continue for the foreseeable future and is outlined in their sustainable material webpage:

Additionally PUMA cannot certify whether they use animal glues in their manufacturing process. Which means that PUMA has no true vegan shoes available. Therefore, if you take a hard line against animal based glues – then you should avoid purchasing PUMA and instead focus on dedicated vegan brands and products. Again, true PUMA vegan shoes do not exist at this time.
